Product Name: 2-Chloro-4-nitrotoluene
Product use: It is an important raw material for ice dye red base KB and color atmosphere (AS-KB) in the dye industry
It can be used in making of ice dyeing dye red color base KB, color phenol AS-KB.
Introduction to Production Methods
Obtained by chlorination of p-nitrotoluene. First, add dry pure p-nitrotoluene to an acid resistant ceramic three necked bottle, heat it externally in a water bath to 55 ℃, then add a small amount of iodine and iron filings, and introduce chlorine gas at 50-60 ℃. After a few hours, the absorption of chlorine gas reaches the theoretical amount and stops. At this point, there is a precipitate of reactants inside the bottle. The reactants are melted by steam heating and then extracted. The mixture is washed twice with 5% dilute hydrochloric acid. Then wash once with 1% sodium carbonate solution, and finally wash once with hot water. Stir the oily substance into cold water to form a granular material, filter it, wash it with cold water, and dry it at 40 ℃ to obtain the finished product. In industrial production, the operation process can be carried out in a dry reaction pot. Molten nitrotoluene is added to the reaction pot, iron wire and iodine tablets (or ferric chloride) are added, and an equimolar amount of chlorine gas is introduced at 58-62 ℃. After washing with hot water and neutralizing with sodium carbonate, it is poured into ice water, stirred to precipitate crystals, filtered, and dried in the dark to obtain the finished product.
2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene is an organic compound. The following is an introduction to the properties, uses, preparation methods, and safety information of the compound:
2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene is a colorless to light yellow crystal with a unique aromatic odor. This compound is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ether and ethanol.
2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene is mainly used as a dye, pigment, and organic synthesis intermediate.
The preparation method of 2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene is generally obtained by chlorination and nitration reactions of toluene. Under appropriate conditions, chlorine gas is added to toluene for chlorination reaction to form 2-chlorotoluene. Then, 2-chlorotoluene is reacted with nitric acid under the catalysis of sulfuric acid to obtain 2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene.
2-chloro-4-nitrotoluene is a compound with certain toxicity. Exposure to this compound may cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract, and may even lead to burns. Proper protective equipment such as gloves and goggles should be worn during operation and storage. Avoid inhaling its vapor or coming into contact with its solution. When using and disposing of this compound, it is necessary to follow relevant safety operating procedures and regulations.
