FITC-PEG-SH (Fluorescein-Polyethylene Glycol-Thydryl) is a linear bifunctional PEG reagent with a fluorescein dye. Fluorescein, commonly referred to as FITC, is a commonly used fluorescent tracer in biology for staining cells, tissues, biomarkers, or nanoparticles. It has a peak absorption or excitation at 494nm and an emission at 521nm. Fluorescent PEG is commonly used for PEGylation to label or tag biomolecules and nanoparticles with dyes and tracers. It has non-reactive sulfhydryls, SH, cysteine, thiol or mercapto groups that react selectively with maleimide and metal surfaces including gold, silver, etc. Rhodamine or other dyes, including NIR dyes for PEG-SH labeling, are available through custom synthesis.
